Um, okay, so over the weekend and today some of the old posts went up on TWFNO/Time Waits and I checked this blog and everything went absolutely nuts.
Over the past couple of days, Tiktok (yes, I did name this post that to make you mad), uploaded 10 posts, one explaining how she was going to upload the posts that used to be on Time Waits and then the first 9 chronological posts of the blog, spanning a period of time from March to April.
I admit, they were hard for me to read. Penny is -- was, perhaps -- a sister to me. if any of you out there have a friend you would honestly throw yourself in front of a bullet for, Penny is that friend to me. The thought that she is now nothing more than a marionette, manipulated to further that thing's cause...that hurts.
I feel like a bad friend, that I didn't notice this happening. I was too wrapped up in my own fucking problems to notice what was happening to her. If Tiktok is telling the truth, there's very little left of her now.
Sometimes I wonder why it even needs proxies. Certainly he's powerful enough to do whatever it is he gets his kicks from without enlisting some feeble human meat puppets.
I have a theory about that. I think It feeds on negative emotion, somehow. The purpose of proxies, of targeting people's friends and family, is to weaken people's resolve and make it easier to get into their head and kill them or proxify them as well and use them on the next victim. I don't know, it's a stupid theory and I'm probably wrong but there seems to be no other reason to act through proxies. Find a victim, get into their head, make them a proxy, use them to get to his next victim, blah blah blah.
It's a stupid idea. Maybe this is just a game to It. Just for shits and giggles. Just fucking around with peoples lives because it feels like it. Just turning people's best friends into a shell, a shadow of who they once were, for no reason. Hurting and killing and screwing peoples lives up like they don't matter.

ReplyDeleteYa' hit the nail on the Ary. At least it's similar to my theory. Slendy is basically an Eldritch Abomination that uses the Tulpa Effect as a means of feeding (look them up on TVTropes if you don't know what they are). Granted the proxy theory is new, but it makes sense.
I do feel for you though, I can't directly relate to what you're going through but I do know what it's like to lose someone close to you. If you need a shoulder to cry on, just give a shout. I'm a good listener.

Does she know you well enough to try and guess the passwords to your accounts here and elsewhere?
Right now, until we can save her, your friend Penny is not here anymore. If Tiktok is telling the truth, its whats left of her fighting back. But in my great cynical nature (which I think I have a goddamn good reason to be) says that its just another fucking proxy trick.
Whatever it is, be careful. If you freak out, and do something without thinking it out, you're going to end up doing something stupid, and that'll just end up getting you hurt, or killed, or worse.
Have emotions when you can, but until then, you have to just suck it up and keep going...Says the person with 'Mourner' as a Title.

Ary, your theory is not stupid. It's the best theory I've seen, here and elsewhere, for the proxies.
ReplyDeleteYou are in an interesting spot right now. You know what you're up against, and what it's capable of. What isn't immediately clear is whether Penny or ... it is aware of what you know. You may have a very brief window of time available to you in which to prepare some defenses. I suggest you continue to read and watch the stories of your fellow fighters.

Lucien's work with a constant is with specific regard to the Path, but there is a history of people using them as protection in the "real" world. You may find some merit in the concept.
Regardless, be wary around Penny. Perhaps, for the time being, be wary also around Tiktok. Tread carefully and be safe.

Have you checked your passwords, and ensured they aren't something Penny could guess?

Ariadne is the most careful person about internet security I know. I doubt I could guess her passwords.
